UK-EU transition period

Thank you for contacting me regarding the end of the UK – EU transition period.

As you will be aware, Parliament has now approved the UK-EU Future Relationship Bill and the Queen has granted the Bill Royal Assent which completes its passage into legislation.

The Act details the Trade and Cooperation agreement negotiated by the UK and the EU.  I am pleased that after many long and difficult months of negotiations we have an agreement, and that agreement is now active.

As a country we must now work to reap the benefits that the agreement can bring, but we must also build on that agreement with the EU and continue to finalise Free Trade Agreements with other nations across the world.

You can view progress of agreements and negotiations at the following link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/uk-trade-agreements-with-non-eu-countries.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me.
